Introduction

Our approach to recruitment is that a fair and consistent methodology is utilised so that we not only conform to the FSA standards required, but that we are also seen as a "chosen employer" of the future.

London Scottish Bank is an Equal Opportunities employer and welcomes candidates from all backgrounds. Although we actively seek internal applicants to fill our positions, the majority of our vacancies are advertised on the internet as we are always looking for new talent and fresh ideas.

Once you have submitted your completed application form you will be sent notification that your application has been received. Your application will be handled by experienced Managers/Human Resources and/or Resourcing Staff who will review it in accordance with our procedures and our commitment to equal opportunities. Within two weeks of the closing date, you will be contacted confirming whether or not you have been short-listed for the role.

The Interview

Within our recruitment process, we generally have a 2-stage interview which will comprise of a first interview and a second competency based interview.

For those of you who have not yet experienced this style of interview, the questions are designed for you to give us examples of experiences you've had within the workplace. Our competency framework consists of the following competencies:-

Planning Achieving Goals
Managing Change Improving Performance
Making Decisions Team Working
Communicating Openly Providing Quality Service

The behaviours that we look for are outlined in the Role Profile which you will receive with your confirmation letter prior to the interview. We will also include a telephone number that you can call for further assistance or to let us know if you have any special needs or requirements.

Offer Stage

London Scottish Bank has a responsibility to protect its business, employees and customers. As a result, prior to an offer being made we will conduct a credit search and other checks relating to legal employment. This is a very quick process and will not cause any delay to your application. Once the credit search and other checks have been completed and are in order, then a formal offer will be sent via our Human Resources department.

Your offer of employment is also subject to satisfactory references from previous employers and personal contacts. No employer will be contacted without your prior consent.

There are some roles within London Scottish Bank where you are expected to enter a customer's home, therefore as part of the Service Level Agreement to our clients, we may need to carry out a 'Criminal Record Check' subject to an offer being made.

Regulated Roles

If you are applying for a division of London Scottish Bank which has FSA regulated roles, for example, London Scottish Mortgages you will be asked to complete a supplementary application form.
